The Bakossi Mountains are part of the Cameroon Line, running inland in a northeasterly direction from Mount Cameroon. The mountains have an area of about 230,000 square kilometres (89,000 sq mi) and typical elevation of 800 metres (2,600 ft) to 1,900 metres (6,200 ft). The Bakossi National Park is a protected area within the Bakossi Forest Reserve, created by a decree in early 2008. The park covers 29,320 hectares (72,500 acres), and was justified on the basis of preserving plant diversification.
Kalamaloué National Reserve is a hidden treasure. The park is nestled between Chad and Nigeria in the far north of Cameroon. The reserve is known for its herds of elephants, antelopes, hippos, giraffes, monkeys, warthogs and more. Air-conditioned accommodations are located outside of the park in a small town called Kousséri.
The Cameroon‘s Mefou National Park in West Africa’s tropical rainforest is home to over 320 primates, including over 100 chimpanzees and 20 gorillas. The Mefou National Park is run by Ape Action Africa a non-profit NGO founded in 1996 dedicated to the conservation of endangered gorillas and chimpanzees, threatened by the bushmeat trade in Central and West Africa. Ape Action Africa manages the rescue and rehabilitation of Great apes across much of Cameroon, with a large sanctuary in the Mefou forest.
Nki National Park is a national park in southeastern Cameroon, located in its East Province. The closest towns to Nki are Yokadouma, Moloundou and Lomie. The forests of Cameroon contain some of the highest population density of forest elephants of any nation with an elephant density of roughly 2.5 per square kilometer for Nki and neighboring Boumba Bek National Park combined.
Dja Faunal Reserve, located in Cameroon, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1987. Causes of inscription include diversity of species present in the park, the presence of five threatened species, and lack of disturbance within the park. The boundary that secludes the reserve is the Dja River, which almost completely surrounds it. There are more than 1,500 known plant species in the reserve, over 107 mammals more than 320 bird species in the park.
Bénoué National Park is a national park of Cameroon and a UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserve. Bénoué National Park is an Important Bird Area (IBA) with recent surveys identifying 306 species.
The Limbe Wildlife Centre near Douala, Cameroon, is a highly respected sanctuary for chimpanzees, gorillas and other primates, with an extensive local outreach and education programme. Its dedicated team currently care for over 140 animals that have been confiscated from the pet trade, many of which are ‘bushmeat orphans’ – babies whose families have been killed for food.
Mengame Gorilla Sanctuary
Situated in the south province of Cameroon near the border of Gabon, the Mengame Gorilla Sanctuary was established by government of Cameroon in 1998. Recent studies have shown a relatively high density of great apes in the Mengame region (compared to other parts of Africa), poaching is a major cause of the species' decline in the region.
Bouba Njida National Park
Bouba Njida National Park is a national park of Cameroon. A total of 23 antelope species occur in the park.
The Takamanda National Park is a protected area in Cameroon, set up in 2008 to help protect the endangered Cross River gorilla. An older protected area, the Takamanda Forest Reserve, was established in 1934 and covered an area of 675.99 km²
Boumba Bek, according to the Environmental News Service, "encompasses a biodiverse group of plants and animals." Chimpanzees, forest antelope, Nile crocodiles and bongos are all found in Boumba Bek National Park. In addition, roughly 300 fish species, three of which are not named, swim in the park's rivers.
Lobéké National Park (alternate: Lake Lobake National Park) is a national park of southeastern Cameroon within the Moloundou Arrondisement of East Province. Located in the Congo Basin, it is bounded on the east by the Sangha River which serves as Cameroon's international border with Central African Republic and the Republic of the Congo. Some of the highest densities of African Forest Elephants and Western Lowland Gorillas in all of Africa are found in Lobéké. In addition to mammals, fauna inventory includes 215 species of butterflies, 134 species of fish, 18 species of reptiles, and 16 species of amphibians. Since 2006, it has been on the proposal list as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Campo Ma'an National Park
Campo Ma'an National Park is a 264,064 hectare national park of Cameroon. The combined area for the national park and the buffer zone surrounding the park is approximately 700,000 hectares
Waza National Park is a national park in the Department of Logone-et-Chari, in Far North Region, Cameroon. It was founded in 1934 as a hunting reserve, and covers a total of 1,700 square kilometres (660 sq mi). Waza achieved national park status in 1968, and became a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1979. The mammal population in the park is one of the largest in Central and West Africa. Seeing elephants in the waterholes, giraffes bending down for their babies, and some 370 bird species all over the place is paradise in itself. Here, you’re allowed to roam around the entirety of the park with a roving and fully protected vehicle.
Ebodjé Sea Turtle Conservation
Ebodjé, rendu célèbre par ses tortues marines, est un village de pêcheurs aux plages vierges, à proximité du célèbre rocher du Loup. Depuis l’année 1999, l’ONG SNV et la fondation Tropenbos avec l’appui du Campo Ma’an ont mis sur pied un mécanisme de suivi écologique des tortues marines au village Ebodjé (Projet Kudu). Ce projet intègre en son sein le volet écotourisme pour faciliter sa durabilité sociale.
Mbam Djerem National Park
Located in central Cameroon, Mbam and Djerem National Park covers an area of about 4,165km2. The park’s extraordinary habitat makes it the most biologically-diverse protected area in Cameroon, with ideal living conditions for more than 50 mammal species such as chimpanzees, leopards, and elephants. The main threat facing this protected area was: Illegal bushmeat hunting for trade posed by a lack of awareness of the impacts of the bush meat crisis on wildlife.
Mozogo Gokoro National Park
Mozoko Gokoro est surtout connu pour ses reptiles, ses singes qui vivent dans une flore adaptée. Sont aussi présents cynocéphales, phacochères et autres girafes.
Korup National Park is in the Southwest Province of Cameroon and extends over 1,260 km2 of mostly undisturbed primary forest. It is reputedly one of Africa’s oldest and richest rainforests in terms of floral and faunal diversity. Researchers from various disciplines have been conducting biological studies in Korup for over three decades, generating a wealth of information on rainforest ecosystems. Charles, Prince of Wales inaugurated the park in 1986. The Film Greystoke - The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes starring Christopher Lambert and Andie MacDowell was shot in the park in 1984 before its establishment.

It covers an area of 3,300 km2 (1,300 sq mi) and is close to the Nigerian border, surrounded on the eastern side by several hunting reserves. It is home to cheetahs, black rhinoceros, elephants, and is known for its colonies of hippopotamuses. Mammals also reported by IUCN include Taurotragus derbianus and Damaliscus lunatus korrigum (VU), and a few Loxodonta africana
Mbere Valley National Park

Le jardin du zoo Mvog Betsi a été créé en 1951 par Monsieur PFEIFFER. C'est un espace vert pour la garde des bêtes sauvages vivantes. Le zoo Mvog Betsi se trouve à Yaoundé et est administré par le Ministère de la forêt et la faune. En 2004, les groupes d’animaux présents au Jardin Zoo-Botaniques sont les suivants: les primates (mandrills - drills - singes verts - cercocèbes à joues grises - cercocèbes agiles - cercopithèques de brazza - hocheurs - moustacs - patas - mones - chimpanzés), les autres mammifères (lionceaux - hyène - serval - nandinie - civette - porcs-épics - athérures - guibs harnachés - gazelles)
les reptiles (crocodiles - tortues d’eau douce et les tortues terrestres - vipères - pythons - cobras - varans), les oiseaux (perroquets gris à queue rouge et les perroquets verts - aigles- cigognes - canards sauvages - autruches).
Santchou Wildlife Reserve
Located south of the town of Dschang, the site is surrounded by four rivers, the Alouno to the north, the Nkam river to the west, to the south by the Metché river and to the east by the Alouo river. The vegetation is a mixture of Sterculiaceae- and Ulmaceae-dominated semi-deciduous forest, shrubby savanna, submontane forest, periodically inundated swamp-forest and grassland.
