Agnès Tchuinté est une athlète camerounaise, spécialiste des lancers, née le 30 janvier 1959 et décédée en 1990. Elle bat le record d'Afrique du javelot à plusieurs reprises : à Düsseldorf le 4 septembre 1977 (53,70 m), en 1980 (56,10 m)1 et en octobre 1985 à Canberra (57,86 m).

Sarah Liengu Etonge is a current African mountain running star. She has won the annual Mount Cameroon Race of Hope seven times. She was 38, with seven children at her most recent victory in 2005. In 2006, the city of Buea revealed a statue in her honor. It was only the second municipal statue constructed in Buea ever, and the first since that for Otto von Bismarck.
